Is Centrum® Really As Good As They Say?

20 April 2009 11 Comments
Centrum

Centrum

I was recently approached by Leanne James of healthyonline to interview her about a product that she believes may not be offering all that a consumer may want. I was interested in this as i have read in supplements and suspected that Centrum® may not be the best chioce for the average person when chooseing a mulit-vitamin supplement.

Here’s the interview below.

There you have it. From talking to Leanne it became pretty clear early on that Centrum® is not going to supply all the nutrients you need or even the majority of the nutrients we need to truly achieve optimal health.

Stay Tuned

Sam

Thanks for putting up the second part of the video.
Interesting to hear about centrum. Would you happen to know if the tablets you dissolve such as Berroca and Healtheries Boost are beneficial to take?
    Cheers.

Lol..how many times have I stood in front of the multi vit selection in the supermarket scanning the backs of the packets and wondering which one is the best one! Thanks for the in-depth look into Centrum…at least thats one less to think about now!!

Cool. So if I am in the US, what multi vitamin would you recommend I take? I enjoy weight lifting and keeping in shape.

    Hey Tdub,

Good question! you want to look for a multi-vitamin that has alot of what you need! We have a review coming out this week where we assess the major players in the multi-vitamin market and compare them to see which one stands out as number 1. For now though this is the best Multi-Vitamin for an active person like yourself that i know of http://www.healthy.co.nz/view-product-2549.html.

Mainly because it’s packed with B Vitamins and includes large dosages of the major ingredients you need. If you can’t find the product anywhere in the US then the business above ships to the US and may be able to sort you out with free shipping if you say Sam B sent you!.

Stay tuned for the review coming soon though it will tell you what you need to look for in a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Cool thanks for the info… Any futher news on when the video reports will be available to read online? I still find it impossible/extremely frustrating to try to watch on dialup.
    Cheers…

Wow, what an eyeopener! I had Gastric Bypass Surgery 3 1/2 years ago and I’ve been taking Centrum since then on recommendation of my GP (apparently the best multivitamin available). As a result of the surgery I now suffer from malabsorbtion of minerals and vitamins, so a good multivitamin is essential to my daily diet. I have to admit my energy levels and sleep patterns have never been the same, even with the use of Centrum and now I understand why. I suffer from sever tiredness, insomnia, restless legs and mood swings. If your average healthy person MIGHT get some goodness from them, my body has no hope. I will be reading up on your multivitamins with interest and would be keen to try them out to see if they make a difference to how I feel on a daily basis.
Thanks again for bringing these everyday products out in the open!

Yet another example of how we get sucked in by advertising and believing everything we are told, thanks for looking deeper into this for us Sam.

thanks Sam – its interesting how companies use a celebrity to sell things such as centrum to make us beleive its so great. Good job on this one.

Wow that was really interesting if a tad confusing.
We all try to read the label of things but no one could understand all that bumph.Well done we need watchdogs for our natural health products as some people are unscrupulus and try to fool us.

I see someone above asks about Boost and Healtheries Googling them brings up this”Not suitable for phenylketonurics (CONTAINS ASPARTAME)”

Hmm I think I will give them a miss as the jury is stillout on that one

Yep, have always thought Centrum pretty low in everything! The one I take now is in powder form, called Multi Vitamin & Mineral Boost. I think its by Clinicians. This keeps me going and going, maybe its because its in a powder? Cos it absorbs a whole lot easier than those big tablets!
